- Location: 274 Hummock Pond Rd, Nantucket, MA 02554, USA
Located 4 miles from the main island at the end of Hummock Pond Road Bike Path, Cisco beach is a haven for surfers. The beach is home to some of the best waves and is arguably the best surfing spot on the island. If you’re searching for adventure, Cisco beach is the ideal sun and fun destination.
The crowd is young, and the pounding currents and turbulent waves along the south shore make Cisco enticing to pro surfers and swimmers. Be cautious of rip tides and strong undertows offshore.
No surfing experience? Not to worry. You can take private lessons at the premier Nantucket island Surf School and master the bottom turn. If you forgot your gear, you could rent bodyboards, paddleboards, surfboards, and wetsuits at the surf school.
Seasonal lifeguards are available, especially during summer, at the main parking area. You can take advantage of the 4-mile bike trail to cycle to town. The beach has one designated parking space; the Cisco beach parking lot offers a spectacular ocean view. A ramp leads to the beach from the parking lot during the peak season but is not suited for wheelchairs. Handicap parking is available to accommodate wheelchairs.
There are no amenities on-site, so pack snacks and drinks for your day out. However, Cisco beach is not ideal for families with young kids since the waves can be rough and the rip currents fierce.
Catch incredible sunsets while relaxing on the soft sand on the beach with pristine and clear crystalline waters.
After having fun at the beach, head over to Cisco Brewers for live music and locally-produced beer, liquor, and wine. Pick up groceries and dinner at Barlett’s Oceanside Farm, or fresh catch at 167 Raw Fish Market.
